This painting honors the legacy of the Trongsa Penlop and his army in the 19th century, a time of great political and military significance in Bhutan. With Trongsa Dzong as their stronghold, the Penlop's forces safeguarded the nation, unified regions, and protected its sovereignty.
The scene reflects the determination and strength of Bhutanese warriors, capturing a defining era that laid the foundation for Bhutan’s unification under visionary leaders like Ugyen Wangchuck, the first king of Bhutan. It symbolizes resilience, leadership, and the enduring spirit of the nation.
